Ayurveda

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda translates into the “Science of Life” and has been used for thousands of years to achieve self-healing. It is a blueprint for everything you need to know to live a holistic way of life. Now validated by science, Ayurveda's teachings help us cultivate more self awareness, healthy habits, mindfulness and balance by aligning with our natural circadian rhythms that support our daily lives.

Philosophy

A unique concept of Ayurveda. Based on the understanding that every person is born with a specific body-mind constitution. Ayurveda says that all of creation begins with the natural elements air, space, fire, water, earth and that we are nature, not separate from it. The elements manifest into the physical body as the “Doshas”, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. They have a direct affect on our physical and mental well-being. The goal is to understand how these elements affect our bodies and how we can keep them in balance.

Ancient Science

It is a science that was created through direct experience with nature over 5000 years ago. Known as one of the oldest holistic systems that emphasizes the importance of preventive, holistic care.

It’s about balance

What is balance? What does it mean to feel balanced?

This is what I know…

Balance is not a destination, or a place we arrive and then get to relax and feel like we are done. Balance is a continual act of presence. Of making small adjustments, of finding center based on all external and internal forces that move us into different directions.Imbalance or dis(ease) arises when a person is out of harmony with themselves and nature. Disharmony can be physical, emotional, spiritual or a combination.

How it’s done

Ayurveda is a sustainable approach with simple concepts and tools that helps us correct any imbalance. Through different channels of holistic remedies, rituals, mindfulness practices, embodiment practices, subtle therapies, personalized dietary, lifestyle guidelines and daily routine recommendations. As well as, personalized yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, herbs, cleanses and rejuvenation treatments.

The difference

Modern medicine is limited to a symptomatic approach, whereas the primary focus of holistic medicine has always been to address the “root cause” of the imbalance. That way you can feel more confident understanding where the imbalance came from and feel better equipped on how to handle it.

Ayurveda assists individuals to take control of their own health and increase self-reliance and re-establishes our connection to our environment. Ayurveda is not limited to medicine or therapy; instead it implies a holistic approach to life and living in harmony with nature.

The Conscious Way

The unique value of Ayurveda lies in consciousness-based practices replacing unconscious behaviors with conscious behaviors while enhancing awareness of the interconnectedness of all aspects of nature.

Once this awareness or oneness is established, a deep mental, physical, and spiritual healing ensues. Consider Ayurveda as your life manual that guides and supports you throughout your entire life.
